Patrol Section

The members assigned to the Patrol Section are the front line of the West Vancouver Police Department and are responsible for conducting proactive policing operations directed at ensuring a peaceful community and the safety of the public.

The Patrol Section is divided into four Patrol Teams.  Each Team utilizes uniform and plainclothes tactics and Police Service Dogs to detect and deter criminal activity and protect the citizens of West Vancouver and their property.

Through highly visible, professional uniform police patrols, it is the mission of the Patrol Section to reduce crime and the fear of crime.  By utilizing up-to-date statistical analysis, the Patrol Section is able to identify crime trends and apply resourses in a timely and efficient manner.  Patrol members are encouraged to identify community problems and devise appropriate responses, often in collaboration with our community partners, to strategically reduce or eliminate repeated calls for service.

The Patrol Section takes great pride in conducting accurate and effective investigations.  In addition, planning, preparing, equipping and responding to all forms of natural disasters and emergencies, in cooperation with other Municipal Departments, is an integral part of what the Patrol Section accomplishes.
