"I Wanted a Job That Was Different Every Day"

I grew up in the Lower Mainland and graduated from high school in 2002.   I attended Douglas College where I obtained a diploma in Criminology.

Growing up, I played every kind of sport.  I love staying active, from snowboarding to golfing.  My main focus though, was hockey and I played Junior for four years.  Before policing, I washed cars, did security, worked at a mill and refereed hockey.  I also coached a hockey team for five years and volunteered at a community policing center for two years.

I sought a career in policing because I wanted a job that was different every day.  I wanted to be able to help people and make a difference in the lives of others.  What attracted me to West Vancouver was the fact that it was a small Department which allows members to get to know and work with each other.  I also like being able to investigate a file from the beginning to the end.  And obviously, it’s a beautiful city.

The Department’s greatest strength, I believe, is the people that I get to come to work with every day.  Everyone has been easy to get along with and have been very supportive. The two positions that I am most interested in is K9 and the Target Team.  I’m a huge dog lover and the fast-paced nature of that position appeals to me.  I would tell people that are interested in applying for a career with the West Vancouver Police Department that if they want to work in a team environment, continually learn, and have fun doing so, then submit an application.
