The West Vancouver Police Department partnered with the North Vancouver Integrated First Nations Policing Unit, the BC Liquor Board and the Ministry of Children and Families to obtain and execute a unique search warrant on the Capilano Reserve.
On 2011 July 20, at 10:30hrs, the West Vancouver Police concluded an extensive investigation into illegal activity at a residence on the Capilano Reserve after acting on complaints from within the community. The investigation led to a Search Warrant being executed under the Offence Act for violations of the Liquor Control and Licensing Act.
Four women were taken into custody, in addition to three small children who were removed for their safety. The Ministry of Children and Families were notified and attended the residence.
The four accused were all conditionally released by a Justice of the Peace and face charges under the Liquor Control and Licensing Act and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The West Vancouver Police Department continues to work with residents of the Squamish Nation community to rid the area of drugs and the negative effects of alcohol.
