Spirit Gallery – One Arrested, $9000 in stolen sculptures recovered, shortly after a Break and Enter 

 

On 2010 August 17, a 42 year old male from Surrey with a lengthy criminal record was the subject of an arrest after the Spirit Gallery in Horseshoe Bay was broken into. During the course of the investigation, police recovered $9000 in stolen sculptures believed to have been stolen from the business.

 

At approximately 00:55 hrs WVPD members responded to a commercial alarm trigger at the Spirit Gallery, an attending member confirmed the business was broken into by someone smashing the glass thus enabling access to the door lock.  A coordinated a team response was quickly initiated, as a result, a vehicle driven by the accused along with the stolen property was located.

 

The West Vancouver Police officer assigned to this investigation has proposed the following four charges in relation to the accused:

 

1.      Break and Enter

2.      Possession of Break in Instruments

3.      Possession of stolen property and

4.      Theft over $5000

 

Shortly before noon, the accused was transported to the North Vancouver Provincial Courthouse to answer on these charges.
