Three youths arrested after two robberies occurred in succession in West Vancouver’s John Lawson Park and Ambleside Park.

On 2010 August 03, shortly after midnight, members of the West Vancouver Police Department, along with the assistance of the North Vancouver RCMP, responded to a robbery complaint originating at West Vancouver’s John Lawson Park.

A 50 year old male complained that he was robbed of personal effects by three individuals wearing balaclavas.

As WVPD members were responding to the initial robbery at John Lawson Park, another robbery victim approached a WVPD member and advised that she and her male companion were also robbed of personal effects at Ambleside Park.

The WVPD member instructed the victim to attend the WVPD to provide her name and the name of her companion, as well as to report details of the robbery.

WVPD Police Service Dog (PSD) ‘Mike’ assisted in the incident by acquiring a track from where the second robbery occurred. The track led to the back of the Park Royal South Mall.

Another WVPD member heard rustling in nearby bushes at the Park Royal Mall at which point a trio of males emerged and attempted to flee. All three were quickly taken into police custody; two of the males are 16 years of age and the third male is 17 years of age.

The WVPD will be proposing the following three charges in relation to this incident:

1. Robbery with an Offensive Weapon
2. Disguise with Intent
3. Failure to Comply with Sentence or Disposition

All three males are presently in police custody and will be transported to the North Vancouver Court House this morning on the proposed charges.

The WVPD is appealing to the second victims, described as an Asian couple driving a black SUV, to call the WVPD and provide details of the robbery.

If anyone witnessed this event, or if anyone has details surrounding these two robberies, please call the WVPD at 604-925-7300 quoting police file numbers 10-9910 and 10-9912, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
