West Vancouver Police urge all residents to review water safety for their family after the near drowning of a toddler in a residential swimming pool Thursday.

Shortly before 6:00 pm, West Vancouver Police attended the 6100 block of Nelson Ave where a 19 month old had fallen into the back yard pool. A parent and a nanny were home at the time, however the toddler wandered out of their sight for a few moments. They quickly found him in the pool and the nanny began to administer CPR.

The toddler was taken to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.

West Vancouver Police are reminding parents and guardians to be extra vigilant with children and infants around any body of water. Follow the link below to the Canadian Red Cross to learn more about water safety and CPR.
