| Sixteen Year-Old Faces Armed Robbery Charges |
The West Vancouver Police Department have recommended charges of Robbery, Assaulting a Police Officer, Uttering Threats and Obstruction after a 16 year-old male, wielding an aluminum baseball bat, was arrested at the Park Royal Shopping Mall.
On Saturday August 9th 2008, at approximately 1940hrs, the West Vancouver Police Department were called to the Park Royal Shopping Mall in response to a report of a male stealing running shoes while armed with a baseball bat. The male was found and confronted by police in the shopping mall parking lot. The male was taken into custody at gun point after reportedly threatening the arresting officer with the bat. While in custody a police officer was physically assaulted by the male.
The sixteen year-old Vancouver youth, who is currently residing in a youth home, was remanded in custody at the North Vancouver Provincial Court until August 18th 2008. |
