| Loss Prevention Officer Assaulted |
On August 6th at 2:30 p.m., a Winner’s Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) attempted to apprehend a shoplifter whom he witnessed concealing three ties in the Winner’s store located in Park Royal South.
The LPO followed the suspect into the mall and attempted to arrest the suspect for theft, however the male refused to stop. As the LPO followed the suspect, the suspect spun around and punched the LPO in the face numerous times until the LPO fell to the ground. The suspect grabbed the LPO by the hair and struck the LPO’s head into the concrete floor until the LPO lost consciousness. Upon regaining consciousness, the LPO and several Park Royal Security officers followed the suspect through the mall. As the suspect exited the mall, he ran into the arms of two West Vancouver Police who were patrolling just outside of the mall at the time. The three stolen ties were recovered upon his arrest.
Due to the severity of the assault, a charge of Robbery is being considered again a 35 year old North Vancouver resident. |
