Sentinel School Threat - Update
On December 3rd, 2011 the West Vancouver Police Department (WVPD) made an arrest in connection with two threats made to Sentinel Secondary School.
The initial threat occurred on November 25th, 2011 and the second threat occurred on November 29th, 2011. On both dates, Sentinel Secondary received a threat by phone that quickly resulted in the school administration making the decision to contact the police and evacuate their students and staff from the facility.
West Vancouver police officers quickly attended the scene on both dates to investigate the threat and search the facility with the assistance of police service dogs from the RCMP and Vancouver Police Department. At each incident, the police and school officials deemed the threat appeared to be unfounded and the decision was made to allow students to return to the building.
West Vancouver police continue to actively investigate this incident, but are confident that the source of the threats has been identified. A male student has been arrested and released on a Promise to Appear in Court with several conditions.
Anyone with any information is requested to contact West Vancouver Police at 604-925-7300 or Crime Stoppers.
