WV Police officer locates a stolen vehicle with the assistance of Air One; two men taken into police custody

On October 19, 2011, at 11:49 hours, a WV Police Officer was conducting traffic enforcement in  a school zone at the 5600-block of Marine Drive when he noticed a black Honda Civic speed past his location. The officer queried the license through the Canadian Police Information Centre and determined the vehicle had been stolen out of Burnaby, B.C.

The vehicle was successfully stopped, with the assistance of the Air One police helicopter, and two males taken into police custody. Search incidental to the arrest revealed a small quantity of a crystal like substance, believed to be methamphetamine.

The driver was identified as 28-year-old James Moore of no fixed address. Moore has been charged with Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of a Controlled Substance. His 51-year-old passenger, from North Vancouver, was arrested for an outstanding endorsed warrant for Theft Under $5000, originating out of Victoria, B.C. The passenger was later released on a Promise to Appear and an Undertaking with conditions after his photographs and fingerprints were taken.
