Identity Theft arrest - Automated Bank Machine
On 2010 August 17, The West Vancouver Police arrested a 29 year old male from Ontario in relation to setting up a skim site at an Automated Bank Machine (ABM) in the 1600 block of Marine Drive.
An alert bank employee noticed suspicious devices affixed to an ABM, as a result he notified the WVPD. WVPD plainclothes members attended and confirmed the devices as equipment commonly used to steal data.
One of the plain clothes members looked at the surveillance photos of the individuals installing the recording equipment. The plain clothes member broadcast the description of the suspects to the other police members patrolling the area, as a result of the broadcast one of the suspects was quickly located, arrested and transported to the WVPD.
The male was held overnight at WVPD and transported to the North Vancouver Courthouse to answer on the proposed charges.
The West Vancouver Police officer investigating this file has recommended the following charges: 1. Possession of Credit Card Data
