A suspicious person and alert police patrol team members resulted Wednesday in a discovery of a sizeable marijuana growing operation in West Vancouver.
West Vancouver Police were investigating an unrelated call July 20th when a patrol officer noted possible indications of a marijuana growing operation at a residence in the 500 block of Southborough Drive.
After further investigation, a search warrant was obtained for the residence. On July 21st, West Vancouver Police Patrol executed the search warrant and discovered approximately 900 marijuana plants in the garage and residence.
No arrests have been made at this time. West Vancouver Police are continuing to investigate. The operation has been dismantled, seized and removed.
This investigation and seizure is the second marijuana grow op in the British Properties busted by the West Vancouver Police Patrol Division in less than a week.
Patrol members acting on information obtained a search warrant for a home in the 600 block of Barnham Road. The search warrant was executed on Monday. Two West Vancouver residents were arrested and are facing charges for a small marijuana growing operation.
West Vancouver residents are urged to be aware of the following and are asked to contact Police if you suspect there could be a marijuana grow op in your neighbourhood:
• The residence is a rental property
• It has an unkempt yard and house, discarded potting soil or 1 gallon plastic pots
• People coming or going at odd times of the day
• Different vehicles coming and going from the residence
• Windows that are always dark or otherwise blacked out
• "Skunk" smell in the air, often at the same time each day/night
• Humming noise or motorized fan-like noises
