| Grow Op Bust - British Properties |
One man is in custody after an investigation by West Vancouver Police Patrol Team members uncovered a residential marijuana growing operation in West Vancouver this afternoon.
Acting on information received, Patrol Team members opened an investigation in early May. A search warrant was subsequently obtained for a home on Laurie Crescent in the Lower British Properties.
Early this afternoon, West Vancouver Police executed the search warrant and discovered approximately 600 marijuana plants and growing equipment in a series of basement rooms.
A 35 year old Vancouver man was arrested without incident. He is being held at West Vancouver Police Headquarters pending a first court appearance Wednesday morning. Investigators will recommend a charge of Production of a Controlled Substance.
Today’s investigation and seizure is the second marijuana grow op busted by the West Vancouver Police Patrol Division in less than a week.
Patrol members acting on information obtained a search warrant for a home in the 64 hundred block of Marine Drive. The search warrant was executed last Wednesday. Investigators seized 187 marijuana plants and growing equipment. Two Vancouver residents were arrested and are facing charges.
Under West Vancouver’s Controlled Substances Nuisance Bylaw, homeowners will be billed for all Police, Fire and Bylaw Services costs related to investigation of the grow-operations.
In addition, occupation of the homes is prohibited until Fire and Bylaws officials are satisfied all health and safety risks posed by the grow operations have been repaired. |
